Fifth Avenue Sushi was built around a straightforward belief: that real Japanese food deserves a proper home in downtown Calgary. Our kitchen runs two sides. At the sushi bar, nigiri is hand-pressed and sashimi sliced to order, alongside maki and chef's specialty rolls like the 5th Avenue Signature Roll, the Flying Eel Dragon Roll and the Lobster Roll. On the hot side, the kitchen sends out shoyu and miso ramen, udon and yakisoba, teriyaki, kakuni braised pork and gyoza made with AAA Alberta beef. Craft and freshness
Our kitchen is led by Executive Chef Varamon Prua, who has spent more than 18 years perfecting the art of sushi. His philosophy is simple: nothing beats freshness. Every sushi order is prepared fresh, only after it's placed — nothing is pre-made — so each plate reaches the table at its very best. That commitment to doing things properly is at the core of who we are.
A more traditional experience
Beyond the main dining room, Fifth Avenue Sushi offers seating in a traditional Japanese-style room, where guests remove their shoes and are seated on the floor at a low table — a more private, authentic way to enjoy a meal.
